Reykjanes Peninsula and Hvammsvík

Reykjanes is a true geological paradise, with incredible geothermal energy, seismic activity, and tectonic movements. This tour is perfect for those who want to witness the great diversity of Icelandic nature. Reykjanes Peninsula is located along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates are constantly drifting apart about 2 cm (1 inch) per year. That is the reason why the peninsula is highly volcanically active and small earthquakes are not rare.

One of our stops will be the infamous Grindavík. The town of Grindavík sits at the center of Reykjanes dramatic volcanic movements, where more than 12 eruptions since only 2021 have completely transformed the landscape and the town itself. The area now holds the youngest lava fields in all of Iceland. It’s a incredible natural phenomenon, unique even to us locals here in Iceland.

At the end of the tour, we will take a scenic drive to the peaceful and less crowded Hvammsvík Hot Springs. Here you can unwind in naturally heated geothermal pools surrounded by untouched Icelandic nature.

Hvammsvík is beautifully situated in a secluded cove along Hvalfjörður fjord, embraced by dramatic mountain views and the ever- changing North Atlantic shoreline. Enjoy the breathtaking views while allowing you to recharge after an amazing day of exploring.

At the end, we will drive you back to your hotel/ specific drop off point.
